Cam Thuy 1 Hydropower Plant is a kind of riverbed technological model invested by the Infrastructure and Transport Construction Investment Joint Stock Company (Intracom) with a total value of over 1.300 billion VND. The construction has a designed capacity of 28.8 MW including 2 units located in the area of 481 hectares in Ma river, Cam Thuy town, Thanh Hoa with the main items: reservoir, concrete dam, flood discharge works, and hydroelectric plant.

After unit H1 was successfully electrified in December 2018, that unit H2 officially ran into operation marked the completion of the entire project, Besides providing the national electricity system about 120 million kWh per year, Cam Thuy 1 hydropower plant is also made use of as reservoirs storing water for agricultural irrigation.
