Participating in the 10th Lao Cai Newspaper Cup Football Championship in 2016, 12 teams from the districts: Bac Ha, Sa Pa, Bao Yen, Bao Thang, Muong Khuong, Bat Xat, Van Ban and Lao Cai City .

Lao Cai Newspaper Cup Football League is held every 2 years to promote and develop the movement of physical education and sports in general, children’s football in particular in the province; as a basis to select the provincial team to participate in the tournament organized by all levels. Thereby assessing extracurricular sports activities and physical education work in schools in Lao Cai province.

Lao Cai Newspaper Cup Football Championship in 2016 has received funding from 7 units with nearly 50 million VND. In which, the main sponsor is Lao Cai Lottery One-member Limited Company; co-sponsors include Transport and Infrastructure Construction Investment Joint Stock Company (Intracom), Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam Branch of Lao Cai (Vietcombank), Dai An Phong Co., Ltd, Lao Cai Football Association, Cau Lac FC Men Football set, Pho Ban Football Club.

The tournament takes place over 4 days (November 9-12), with 12 qualifying matches taking place on November 9-10. The Organizing Committee will select 8 teams to compete in four quarter-finals on 11/11 and semi-finals and finals on November 12.

Representative of BTC and sponsor of Infrastructure and Transport Construction Investment Joint Stock Company (Intracom) awarded the second prize to Bac Ha Children’s football team.

At the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded the Championship Cup to the Sa Pa Education and Training Division’s football team (VND 10 million and the sponsor’s bonus). The second prize belongs to the Department of Education and Training children’s football team in Bac Ha district (VND 7 million and the sponsor’s bonus). The third prize was awarded to Van Ban Education and Training Division’s football team and Le Ngoc Han Primary School’s football team (VND 5 million each with donor bonus). Le Van Tam Primary School children’s football team was awarded the Style Award (VND 3 million). The remaining teams were awarded the Sponsor’s Encouragement Award. In addition, there is also the best player award awarded to goalkeeper Dinh Viet Bach of Bac Ha Education and Training Division’s football team and player Ha Tuan Dat of the Sa Pa Education and Training Division’s football team.
